Johnson did some of his own writing, worked in the publishing field, was known to enjoy nature and spent effort on land preservation, was a founding director of the Hall of Fame at NYU, and also served as Ambassador to Italy in the early 20th century. The note warmly reads "Best thanks & rememberances to you, dear friend. I arrived home all right Friday before sunset. Thanks for that carriage from the studio to the ferry." Note measures 3"h x 5 1/4"w, with some expected wear and weak staining. Sepia-toned photo measures 5 1/4"h x 4 1/2"w, one subtle tear to crown with tape repair on rear.
