Description: This is a .999 Fine Silver handmade 4 Reale Pirate cob!100% USA made! A fun way to add silver bullion to your collection in the form of unique pirate treasure! Completely handmade by me, using the exact methods that the originals were made with, to the exact weight the originals were made to, all right in my shop in Northern New Hampshire. I am one of only three artists in the world making pirate coins this way!! And of those 3, the only one that has a real Pirate element to mine. The rest use molds they simply pour the silver into.I melt down the fine silver and form it into perfect flat planchettes completely by hand. Then I strike it between two dies of my own design. The dies I designed are modeled after the historical 1600-1700 era "Pirate" coins (known as cobs). Only, I took the liberty to add a slight "piratey" element to them! The front has the classic cross and Lions and Castles seen on the famous Potosi "Pillars and waves" cobs. To the left of the cross you find the mint mark "P". To you right you find the assayer mark, "L" for my last name. On the top you have "4" for 4 Reales. On the bottom is "92" for the yeah 1692, the year we lost Port Royal Jamaica to the earthquake! Surrounding that you have the words "Atrum Macula Forum Tortuga", Latin for Black Spot Guild, the name of my mint, and pirate crew. And Tortuga, where my crew is based out of. On the back, you see the classic "Pillars and Waves" design common on the popular Potosi cobs! The symbols within the pillars are mostly faithful to the originals, with a few piratey elements thrown in there. After all, what would a Black Spot Guild cob be if it didn't have the enduring Pirate theme in there somewhere?! Then on the edge the words "Potosi, Ano 1692, El Peru", the wording from the real cobs, just with a different year. This listing is for the "4 reales" denomination / size. Half the weight of the classic "Piece of 8". They weigh the same as the originals, roughly 14 grams and are roughly the size of a half dollar or 1". See my other listing for the full size classic 8 Reale "Piece of 8".Comes in a cotton bag with a sweet Black Spot Guild sticker. These are just an example of the coins you would receive, and NOT THE EXACT ONE. As each one is hand melted, shaped, and struck, no two are alike. Each one has the same design but vary quite a lot in shape, cracks, and what portion of the design actually shows up on the cobs, JUST like the originals. As seen in the one picture, there is also an option to pierce the cob and put a solid sterling silver loop and leather cord on it. This adds $15. If you are interested in that, send me a message and I will create a custom listing. Your main big decision is a natural silver finish or a darkened/aged look. Just message me after purchasing and let me know which you prefer. If you would like to buy the classic 14 gram 4 reales cobs, feel free to just order as many as you want using the Buy-it-Now. If you would like something specific, a pendant, or for me to make you your own "hoard" contact me and I will make it happen and create a specific listing for you! Again, make sure you tell me if you want them to have the natural or aged finish. I do not keep a ton of these made up. Once the order is placed, I will make your cobs and ship them out. As such, expect a week or two before I can ship them. And as a clarification, each purchase is for ONE solid .999 silver coin, NOT four of them. You can buy 4, but you would need to change the quantity to "4", and would cost you $200. Plenty of people do that, but just to clarify that if you only order 1, you will get one "4 Reale" cob. By default these are "natural" tone. So, if I don't hear back from you about the finish, I will ship it natural. (as apposed to antiqued.) So again, please let me know which finish you want, otherwise I will keep it natural. Feel free to ask questions! FREE SHIPPING!!! - maintain, Captain Steve
