Set II of the 10/9 Show was always one of my favorite Analog Cassettes of all-time ... but I let a friend borrow it down in Oakland at the last Winter Tour Coliseum run in '94, then all of a sudden there was no more Grateful Dead shortly after that - and I never ever got a chance to show up & reclaim it ??! You know ... something like an ' Oakland ' Dead Tape - Lost in " Oakland " !?! Ha ! So ... I actually had to sadly bite the bullet & lived without it - for close to Ten-Years ?!? Whoa ??! I know, I know - it was tough ... but, I never got around to tracking another high-quality analog copy down. Sometimes it just happens, right ? Then to my surprise ... 2004 rolled-around & WhAmO !!! The whole-darn Show(s) !! released in all of their Musical & Magical Glory ( 4-CD's ! ) in the form of " Dick's Picks #33 ". How incredibly great. It was almost like a Deadhead Dream come True ! Let's face it - I sat around, and did nothing about it for long enough - that it actually came back around to find me ! Ha ! But hey, at least that's how it felt. I'm completely in love with this one, I must say ( if you already can't tell ... ) - and really, always have been since 1st trading for the tapes way-back in the day, and you likely will be too if you have yet to hear it. In fact, this one meant so much to me that I actually even went and bought the Poster too! So many cool posters, and so little wall-space, right ? Thank goodness for those Art Binders ! Classic ... No joke here though, this is Garcia putting on a straight-up Travis Bean Clinic !! And the best part is, the Band is so darn fired-up throughout Both ! of these shows to the point, that he really gets musically challenged ! Weir is just after it.
