Description: The Mama of Dada. Beatrice Wood was an influential force in the arts. A leader of the Avant Garde movement, and editor of the magazines Rongwrong and the Blind Man in NYC. Known for her association with Marcel Duchamp, an actess and a sculptor and painter as well, Wood was the inspiration for the character Rose in James Camron's film Titanic. She passed away at the age of 105 in California. Her quirky pottery is rarely available. The faint luster of this bowl, with it's delicate, textured celadon glaze, presents a contrast with the red clay underneath. The extraordinary thin glaze parts in places to reveal the body but otherwise in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or slips. 5" wide. Signed BEATO underneath.
