Description: Here is a rather rare and unusual little Notgeld, issued in 1921 under the name "Deutsch-Ostafrika" (German East Africa). Featuring an image of downtown Daressalam, their capital of the nation today named Tanzania. The note is in fair condition. The German African Colonies issued very few Banknotes, and today these remain amongst the scarcest and most expensive notes for collectors to add to their collections, so for anybody unfamiliar with this pretty little series... it manages to provide collectors of Antique colonial notess a great opportunity to add a German produced note produced just 4 years after the colonies were removed from their control. The notes have great designs featuring scenes of life in German Africa. The Notes are really German Notgeld, small change notes issued by countless communities, but what have made these such a find is that they originate from the Great Hanseatic Port cities of Bremen and Hamburg. They are part of a Colonial Commemorative issue that showed all the ports at a time when they were part of the German Reich. For collectors, a German Colonial note, with an affordable price-tag, and pleasing design, other than the simple black-and-white thatwere in use in these territories at the time.
