Description: George F. Couture is well-known for his vintage plissè pleated evening dresses similar to those from Mary Mcfadden (who in turn was undoubtedly inspired by Mario Fortuny). This George F. Couture gown in black and ivory is all the more elegant for it's lack of heavy beading, embellished only by a large black bow on the bodice. The dress has an asymmetrical waist and very full sleeves, with a round, crew neck in front and a V-neck in back. There is a side zipper for closure. The fabric is permanently pleated 100% polyester - the dress is gently washable by hand and can be hung to drip dry without wrinkles. It is labeled size 6. Measurements indicate it is a modern size 6-8. MEASUREMENTS* - Underarm chest measurement is 38" - Shoulder width is 16" - Waist is 28.5” - Hips are free. - Length is 54" down from high point of shoulder.Please do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit. Always compare the actual measurements with those of a similar garment(s) that fits you. CONDITION Structurally this evening gown is in excellent condition. Cosmetically, there are a few fabric pulls in the bodice, but you have to stretch the pleats apart to see them, so there is no real impact visually.
