Fritz Reiner.Fritz Rainer [1888-1963], a famous conductor of the past, studied with Bartók and others at the Budapest Conservatory, and made his conducting debut with “Carmen” in 1910. After working at the Budapest Opera (1911-1914) and the Saxon Court Opera (1914-1921), he came to the United States in 1922 and served as music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (1922-1931) and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (1938-1948). He then became conductor of the Metropolitan Opera (1949-1953), and in September 1953, he was appointed music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, rebuilding the orchestra and establishing its golden age. Reiner and the Chicago Symphony OrchestraAt the time of Rainer's arrival, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra already had such wind greats as Adolph Herseth (trumpet), Arnold Jacobs (tuba), Philip Farkas (horn), Bert Gaskins (piccolo), Clark Brody (clarinet), and Leonard Chalot (bassoon). Reiner also brought in Ray Still, oboe, from Baltimore, to strengthen the winds, as well as János Starker, cello, whom he had trusted since his days at the Metropolitan Opera, and Victor Aitay, a fellow countryman, as concertmaster, thus building up the Reiner system. The orchestra was then formed. [Recording for RCAReiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's recording for RCA began on March 6, 1954, with a session of “Life of a Hero” at Orchestra Hall, the home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. This recording, along with the recording of “Zarathustra” two days later, is also known as a masterpiece that clearly captured the localization of the orchestra's placement despite the fact that it was a two-track recording made with only two microphones set up on the stage. In the nine years that followed, until Beethoven No. 4 with Cliburn on April 22, 1963, a wide range of albums were produced, from Mozart to Liebermann. Many of these recordings were recorded in stereo and released as “Living Stereo,” a treasure trove of masterful recordings that achieve a high level of orchestral robustness and delicacy, balance between the various parts, hall spatiality, sonic purity and transparency, and more.Shipping We are going to ship by FedEX or DHL or Japan post.
