Description: Fred Carter / Gigand Gold Plated Bowie Knife and Display Case Dr. Fred Carter has been a Knifemaker Guild member since 1976, including two terms as president. This knife has a low serial number of 0640. This set is complete and comes with the original box, wood and plexiglass display case and gold plated signature card personally signed by the maker. The knife itself is made of heat treated stainless steel that has been black nickel plated with 24 karat gold scroll work and triple polished. I'm not a professional photographer and this thing is nearly impossible to get a great photo of with its ultra high gloss finish; its like polished black marble! The knife itself is mint, though there are various light marks to the edges of the base where the plexiglass case fits onto the wood and on the taller wood stand that holds the blade edge it looks like it was reglued. Some tape and marks to the edges of the white box and there is a styrofoam insert that might have had another side to it? Note that any white specks on the knife are lint and dust, they are not any sort of marks as the knife is mint. The wooden stands and the name plate are removable and are not mounted to the base.
