"Greyfriars Bobby" is a part of a large "British Heritage" collection of cottages, inns, castles, churches and other. Greyfriars Bobby (4 May 1855 – 14 January 1872) was a Skye Terrier or Dandie Dinmont Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until he died on 14 January 1872. The story continues to be well known in Scotland, through several books and films. A prominent commemorative statue and nearby graves are a tourist attraction. Bobby was buried just inside the gates of the kirkyard. His grave is marked by a small pink granite stone. Bobby's collar and bowl are displayed in the Museum of Edinburgh. In 1873, Lady Angela Burdett-Coutts erected a drinking fountain (pictured) in Edinburgh to the memory of Greyfriars Bobby. The bronze statue of Bobby on top of the fountain was made by William Brodie. The fountain and statue have long been favourites of Scots. Limited edition of 0892 out of 1000.The item is approx 6 1/8 inches long and 4 3/4 inches wide. The base has green felt affixed to the bottom and a gold foil label which identifies the piece. It is signed. The box is titled and also has a gold foil sticker. Model maker Ian Fraser was known for his detailed replicas of famous buildings and he has turned his hobby into a multi-million pound business He specialized in ''British Heritage'' models especially castles and well known landmark. All items were hand crafted and hand painted.A prototype was modelling in wax with liquid rubber for a master copy mould. After being removed from the mold, the finished work is carefully carved down to the smallest detail and carefully colored. Each piece reflects his deep love for Scottish nature and landscapes. The company FRASER CREATIONS went out of business in 2003 when Ian Macgregor Fraser has retired. The model is in excellent condition I can not find any chip, fleas or wears.
