Description: Coca Cola has made thousands of Commemorative bottles over the years. Each one celebrates events in our lives. This one celebrates the Centennial of the "First Painted Wall Sign", 1894-1994. This sign is on the east wall of the Young Brothers Pharmacy, in Cartersville, Georgia. James Couden, a syrup salesman for Coca Cola in 1894. He left his ordering pad in the wagon and picked up a paint brush to create a first of many Coca Cola signs around the southeast. He established a trend that later earned the Georgia Trust Award for Preservation. In 1989, the 25 layers of paint were removed to reveal his original work of art. Perhaps, James Couden's original creation inspired Jim Harrison's later creations of artwork. Jim Harrison was an American artist that lived from 1936 - 2016. One summer, he took a job working for a 75 year old sign painter, J.J. Comforth. The older gentleman taught him how to letter, and for several Summers, the two travelled around the rural area of Denmark, South Carolina painting Coca Cola bulletins on the sides of barns and country stores. This is a very rare 8 oz. Coca Cola bottle. It is in perfect condition, unopened. Thank you to the Carterville Chamber of Commerce for this picture and information. Shipping for this bottle will be only $9.00, anywhere in the U.S. for 2-4 day mail. If you purchase more of my many asst. bottles, I will ship them FREE with this one.
