Description: These are my Standard Round Blade Chisels This style of chisel is great for splitting hot stock and cold layout on mild steel. The rounded blade makes walking the chisel much easier than it is with a flat-blade chisel. Once your first chisel groove is made, you can use a rocking motion to keep the chisel in the first groove and extend the length of the groove, thus preventing cold shuts and double cuts. The rounded blade also uses the principle of reduced surface area contact, so that it will cut faster than a flat blade chisel. These chisels are about 9 inches long and are made from 5/8-inch round, 5160 steel. They are hardened and tempered, ground to a 120 grit finish, and lightly coated with linseed oil to blacken and help prevent rust.
