Description: This is a great sword out of my collection, a type 98 Imperial Japanese WW2 Shingunto in excellent condition - Shingunto is a Japanese Army Officer's Sword. Blade is very sharp and tang has 2 kanji for the makers name on one side and longer date kanji on the other side. Scabbard is lined with wood and locking mechanism works fine. The tassel was obtained in an auction lot some years ago and appears to be a very nice reproduction and I am including it with this auction since this sword had no tassel but the sword otherwise is absolutely original to WW2. I will also include a copy of the Certificate that was issued to servicemen giving them permission to transport a Japanese sword out of Japan after the war as a souvenier. Thanks your your interest. The condition of this sword is only my honest opinion based upon 50yrs of collecting Japanese swords and with a strong positive feedback on eBay but don't take my word, do your own due diligence, study the pics and ask questions.
