This is the world's first Super Audio CD hybrid disc of evergreen standards that have never disappeared from the catalog since the analog era. “I think that I would feel uncomfortable living my life as a composer, conductor or pianist alone. However, I am proud and happy to be a musician. As he himself says, “I think it is the best job in the world, and I am very grateful to be able to do it,” Sir André Previn (1929-2019) was a conductor, pianist, and composer, and is one of the most versatile and greatest musicians of the 20th century, winning four Academy Awards and ten Grammy Awards. Born in Berlin, Previn moved to Los Angeles before the outbreak of the Second World War, and from high school he began accompanying silent films and working as an orchestrator at MGM, quickly blossoming into a precocious talent. After the Second World War, he began to fully engage in activities as a multi-talented musician, and continued to progress as a musician without pause until his death in 2019. Previn succeeded István Kertész as principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1968, and remained in the post until 1979. This period with the London Symphony Orchestra was the first peak of Previn's career as a conductor. His approach as a conductor, which was not to lead the orchestra from above, but to immerse himself in working on music with the musicians as if they were his colleagues, evoked a deep sense of empathy among both musicians and listeners, and his sharp, incisive interpretations, which were full of a willingness to take on new challenges, completely changed the conventional style of performance. The London Symphony Orchestra was already the most functional and powerful of London's orchestras, but under Previn it became even more refined and flexible, and the BBC began a TV program featuring this duo, which spread their music to a wide audience. Previn began recording with the London Symphony Orchestra at RCA before he became principal conductor, and he left behind important recordings such as the complete symphonies of Vaughan Williams, but it was not until 1971, during his time at EMI, that his recording activities with the London Symphony Orchestra really began to take off. In May 1971, Previn began his recording activities with EMI with a bold choice for the time: Ravi Shankar's sitar concerto. His second album for EMI was an album containing three of Gershwin's masterpieces: “Rhapsody in Blue”, “An American in Paris”, and “Pian Concerto in F”. In addition to his role as conductor, the album also highlighted the unique aspects of Previn's playing as a pianist. * ShippingWe ship using FedEx, DHL and Japan Post. * PaymentWe usually ship within 5〜10 business days of receiving cleared payment. * International Buyers - Please Note:Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
