Tape has been “Splice-tested” on my personal machine: It pulled smoothly and sounded good. The splice remained intact and the existing foil strip changed the channel properly. But since 8-track players vary wildly in build quality, maintenance and cleanliness, this tape is NOT guaranteed to perform similarly on any other machine. It is sold STRICTLY as an as-is collectors/ display item with no returns, refunds or adjustments. In fact, it is strongly suggested that this tape be carefully evaluated and/or rebuilt before any playback attempt is made. Be aware that just about every used 8-track on eBay is sold this exact same way. But in the event of a performance issue, I’ll be happy to provide contact information for my 8-track guy who, for about $3, will completely rebuild it with a new pressure pad, splice, and sensing foil—a smokin’ good deal considering the time involved.The pads should be replaced—especially for best audio quality.
