BRIARS) - BARK ANTIQUE FINISH - Lightly Smoked Estate Briar Pipe Excellent Condition, just cleaned & sanitized This Les Wood Ferndown Canadian is stunning in the Bark Antique Finish, is Large and Long. *** (THREE STARS) Approximate Dimensions Overall Length: 6-5/8 inches Bowl Height: 2-1/8 inches Bowl Diameter: 1-1/2 inches Chamber Diameter: 7/8 inches Weight 2.07 ounces Extremely lightly smoked, no tooth marks or charring. Comes with original pouch no box. Les Wood has been around as long or longer than anyone and although he is still making some collaboration pipes, with retirement, we will unfortunately never see Ferndown production again. This particular piece is now what I consider to be a "vintage" early Les Wood / Ferndown. IT IS IN EXCELLENT NEAR MINT CONDITION Les Wood’s earliest Ferndown pipes were marked “L&J.S. Briars” and this is one of those amazing early pipes. This classic Canadian is an absolute gem, I've always felt Les made fantastic CANADIAN pipes! 6-1/2" long, it feels amazing in hand, a three star - about a Group 6 - with a beautifully formed bowl, nice thick walls and a healthy sized chamber. And it is light for a big pipe at 2.07 oz. Les made his reputation at Dunhill as the best pipemaker in England. Stem is original Ebonite oval bit and signature LJS logo. The band bears the L&JS mark as well. Phenomenal piece from the great Les Wood, this one will not disappoint!
