Description: A Real Photo postcard showing the Keystone Pathfinder aircraft of the WEST INDIAN AERIAL EXPRESS airline. The plane was named "Santa Maria". Outside of a short lived airline from Cuba in 1920 this was the first airline to operate in the Caribbean. It started operations on December 1st, 1927. Pan American Airways started operations in January 1928 out of Key West, Florida. The pilot for WIAE was Basil Rowe. He made himself famous by producing stamped covers for collectors. If you search eBay for covers for West Indian Aerial Express you will find some signed by the pilot Basil Rowe. They are relatively common. This postcard is very rare. I have not seen another example offered in 25+years of collecting airline postcards. Shipping is through the USPS and includes Tracking. Shipping to the United States only on this. Thanks. I'm always happy to combine shipping with same day multiple purchases. 11175-1224PCB
