Description: Up for auction is this Outstanding, Massive, E. Howard & Co. Pocket Watch in its original Openface Case and accented by a Fancy Watch Chain! This rare watch comes contained within a round, unsigned, coin silver (tested), open face watch case with gold hinges, plus a two-tone, gold filled, fancy watch chain and a key! It measures 85mm long (including chain guard bail) x 58mm in diameter x 18mm thick including the beveled crystal! It has a rounded bead edge center frame. The watch and movement weigh 192 grams or 6.77 ounces! This case exhibits numerous small scratches, impressions which is commensurate with its age. The back cover has pre-existing sticker residue. (We do not buff or otherwise remove any blemish or tarnish from found watches. This is soley up to the new owner should they choose to do so.) (See photos) The gorgeous white, baked glass enamel, single-sunk dial has Black Roman numerals, and gold-tone King Louis XIV hands. It is signed, “E. Howard & Co., Boston”! There are several edge flakes, and one small chip at the 6:00 position on the seconds bit. (See photos) The case contains a clean, early Series III movement signed, “E. Howard & Co., Boston, 8102”. This example has its balance wheel “above” the center wheel. The balance appears to be ok, with good motion when rocked gently from side-to-side. It has not been tested, so we can not vouch for its accuracy, reliability, any missing, broken or scratched parts and/ or pieces. (See photos) These are movement's attributes: Model: Series IIIEst.
