Duro Chrome G61 Ignition Wrench 13/64 x 15/64 Late WWII

Description: World War II GMTK 41-W-900 “WRENCH, Electrical (Midget), Set, Engineers, Electrical and Ignition Duty, Alloy Steel, DOE, Angled, 11 pieces with screwdriver and pliers Duro Metal Products began business in the mid-1910s. During its history Duro manufactured high quality tools. Duro and Indestro began a loose (or not so loose) working relationship whereby Duro made the pricier items while Indestro produced identical or very similar products for a lesser price. Both companies produced well-made, long-lasting tools. This is a correct Wrench for World War II, GMTK, General Mechanic’s Tool Kit, a generalized name. More properly it is “Tool Set, Complete with Tools, Motor Vehicle Mechanic’s, 44-T-3538”, the set of tools provided to mechanics providing what-am-I-doing-so-close-to-the-frontline vehicle repair and support. The Set identified as “41-W-900” was contained in a canvas or leatherette roll holding small Wrenches, a Screwdriver and Ignition-type Pliers all of which were suited for Ignition and Electrical System maintenance on a wide variety of military vehicles. “G61” is a 15 and 60 degree Type; the 15 Degree End is 13/64 and the 60 Degree End is 15/64 (see images). It has a not-quite-identical twin, the “G62”, on which the Angles and Sizes were reversed; 15 Degrees is 15/64 & 60 degrees is 13/64. They were the smallest of the nine Wrenches in the Kit. In the domestic market of the time they were typically purchased as a pair. Not also finding the “G62” was a disappointment. The Wrench is in remarkably good condition. Markings are distinct, especially the desirable Stamped Arc “DURO CHROME” branding (see images). There is no evidence of misuse or abuse of the Wrench. The Wrench is not plated (see images). The dark finish is visually appealing, remains smooth and is neither pitted nor corroded (see images). Your G-503 would appreciate it.
