Description: This driftwood was collected from the shores of lake Ontario. There is always a potential for harboring pests such as algae, bacteria or parasites, so it's highly recommended to treat your driftwood if you’re going to use it in an aquatic system. For terrestrial setups, treatment is not necessary as any pests would be aquatic. This wood should contain little to no tannins, as the natural process that makes driftwood removes it. For multiple sets, combined shipping will be automatically calculated when individually selecting the same shipping service at checkout Cleaning: My driftwood has been cleaned of algae, sand or dirt debris. There may be some that we missed, cleaning it off is as easy as washing it off under the sink. Waterlogging / Sterilizing: There are several ways to waterlog a piece of driftwood. The recommended way is by boiling, simply submerge or weigh down the driftwood in a boiling pot of water until it becomes saturated. This process also will sterilize the wood from any pests and release any tannins still left in the wood. Another method to waterlog is to weigh down the wood with rocks or attach it to rocks using aquarium sealant. This process is much slower than boiling, some wood may never become fully waterlogged with this method either. I don’t recommend using chemical treatments as this may harm your fish.
