Description: Offered is the book "Dear Aunt Belle", written by Nelle Campbell Leland and printed by Jacobs Brothers of Clinton, South Carolina. The book, containing dozens of short letters from the children of Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton, South Carolina to "Aunt Belle", a supporter of the institution, has no printing date, but the printer began operations in 1967 and it certainly appears old enough to be vintage. Most of the letters date to the 1920s. There are many black and white photos and illustrations. This is a rare find; at the time of original listing I could only find one other copy for sale on eBay and none anywhere else. The book is approx. 9 1/4" x 6 1/4" and contains 75 pages. It is in very good to excellent condition. The hard blue and gray cover has almost no wear, although it has slightly browned. There is no cracking inside either the front or back cover. The white endpapers have yellowed but are otherwise clean. I see no missing or torn pages and all are well-attached to the binding. They have also yellowed but are otherwise generally clean. I see no writing in the book. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions. I will do my best to answer them! Please take a moment to look at some of the other items in my eBay store!
