The Dayaks have a long tradition of beadwork, with beaded items serving as personal adornment, dowries, currency, and symbols of status and spiritual power. This beautiful set was purchased in Sarawak from a Dayak craftsman from the Orang Ulu tribe in the early 1990s. The necklace is about 24 inches long (61 cm) and 1 inch wide (2.5 cm). It has a barrel clasp. The earrings are about 3 inches long (7.6 cm) and include silicone backs for the French hook wires, which are silver tone. Note: The gold beads are not metallic gold.
