Britannia Depicta was a pocket-sized road atlas which was extremely popular in the 18th century and contained over 250 road and county maps, each decorated with coats of arms of local gentry and accompanied with information on the routes they covered. The maps were engraved by the well-renowned Emanuel Bowen and the information was provided by John Bowen. The sheet is printed on both sides showing the route passing through several locations including: Side 1: Shaftesbury, Milborne Port, Sherborne, Yeovil, Crewkerne Side 2: Crewkerne, Axminster, Honiton, Exeter, Chudleigh Cartographer / engraver: Emanuel Bowen Provenance: 'Britannia Depicta or Ogilby Improv'd ...', 4th edition, 1759, published by Thomas Bowles, London Condition: Very good condition.
