Description: 1/2, 7/16, 3/8, 5/16 (8-point) & 11/32 Sears contracted with highly respected manufacturers for their tools and each tool was branded with an identifying mark which enabled easy response as part of the tool warranty. These Sockets are marked with a letter “V” identifying the manufacturer as Moore Drop Forging Company of Springfield, Massachusetts (see images). Like other contractors making tools for Sears/Craftsman, Moore’s Craftsman products had to be lifetime-replaceable. We’d like to be more specific about the age of these Sockets, but the few changes made during their production were minor and difficult to identify without making comparisons. Among these Sockets, the lettering on the 1/2 Inch, while typical in form, is noticeably smaller than the other four (see images). We could not find any specific, applicable information. It is generally accepted in tool-accumulator circles, that narrowing the time of production for Moore’s period of contracting is difficult. Our best guess for four of the Sockets is late 50s to mid-1960s and probably earlier for the 1/2 Inch. The Sockets are in good condition, bearing no worse than typical use wear. The 5/16 Inch Socket is 8-point (see images) while the rest are 6-Point (see images). All the Sockets could be put to work or added to a Collection or Accumulation. We will ship the Sockets by USPS Ground Advantage on the next regular business day following receipt of payment.
