Description: From an older collection in Butte, here you see a rare cluster with Multiple actual Covellite crystals, which has become difficult to encounter in modern times. The crystals, two clear ones, are stout, quite thick, and the sides show the hexagonal shape.. The front appears to show a single face, and the two crystals apper to merge a some point on one of the sides, or maybe become a bit stacked on top of each other.... Maybe not the prettiest crystals, but some of the iridescence actually shows on the front and back, and for Butte covellite crystals, this is a very decent piece.. The crystals, being quite thick, don't have side luster, but the angular faces on the side give them away. Also, there might be a slight coating on the crystals on the side, by a different copper sulfide, as is often the case with Covellites from Butte. This is from a Butte collection assembled during the 1950's(although unfortunately no label present with this specimen..), but was likely found during the 1930's. This specimen is 44 grams, or 1 5/8 oz. The size is 1.5 inch x 1 inch x 1 inch. Please be advised, I ship with Ground Advantage.
