Continental Currency Fr#CC-62 February 26, 1777 $30 PMG 25 *Baltimore*

Description: This note is a part of the “Baltimore Issue”. This issue was passed by the Continental Congress on February 26, 1777 in Baltimore. The Congress met in Baltimore from December 20, 1776 to February 27, 1777 because Philadelphia was occupied by British forces. This $30 note features an emblem of a wreath on a tomb. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “SI RECTE FACIES” (If you act righteously you will be honored after death). The reverse uniquely features 2 emblems of a strong wind creating waves and a beautiful sun shining on ships at sea. The first emblem was designed by Benjamin Franklin and is encircled by the latin motto “VI CONCITATE” (Driven by force). The second is encircled by the motto “CESSANTE VENTO CONQUIESCEMUS” (When the storm dies down we will rest). Nice problem free example with bold reverse emblems.
