Description: 3489-2024) Clovis Dart Point made of heavily patinated and mineralized white Burlington Chert. This specimen measures at 2 7/8” x 7/8” x ¼” and has large shallow primary percussion with some overshot flaking followed by selective pressure flaking to thin and refine this arrowhead into the desired form. There is a nice fat flute on one face with a narrower pressure flute on the other face. Has lateral stem edge and basal margin grinding as would be expected for a fluted Paleo point. In terms of condition there is a small lateral edge nick on one auricle and the tip suffered an ancient impact fracture where the maker resharpened and utilized as a neo chisel tip. The Burlington material is devitrified or in other words has some degree of silica leaching due to ground chemistry where it was found on private property in Lincoln County, Missouri, x Mike Peeler Collection, G7 Quality.
