I put batteries in, and the lights work. It will not come with batteries. The batteries are not included. The fireplace shows wires through the "flame" opening. I assure you this is NOT a flaw but by design. See the last 2 photos. One shows the product box photo with green and yellow wires showing. The actual fireplace figurine has green and red wires visible through the opening as shown in the actual photo. Take a look at the photos, this is the first time it was removed from the box. I have another figure from the same collection listed now as well. Buy both, save some money on shipping.
