Description: Chip Breaker Screwdriver Blade with Brass Ferrule for Stanley Planes and many others. Rosewood knob not included. See #3 on the Stanley Plane Parts Diagram When I saw Dave Corinth build his Chip Breaker Screwdriver on YouTube, I could not wait to build one. The first one took the better part of a day. Cutting and milling the O1 tool steel blade, turning the brass ferrule to the proper dimensions, building a jig to machine the 5/8” dowel to the right diameter to fit perfectly inside the brass ferrule, building another jig to cut the blade slot in the exact center of the dowel, drill a 5/8” hole in an old broken down rosewood knob and secure the parts with marine epoxy and now, I have a wonderful Chip Breaker Screwdriver that I use every day. Dave has graciously allowed me to offer his Chip Breaker Screwdriver in starter-kit form. These starter-kits are for woodworkers that may not have a metal lathe or milling machine. This is for the person with a cracked rosewood knob in the drawer that’s not right for a daily user plane but perfect for a Chip Breaker Screwdriver handle.
