Description: Early Ming dynasty porcelain vessel. This piece, known as a "Kendi", has been painted with peony, lotus, foliage and ruyi (sceptre) decoration using red (cooper) underglaze pigment. Made during the reigns of either emperor Hongwu (1368-1398) or emperor Yongle (1402-1424), this object has survived in good condition. Although previously cleaned, there are areas of dry rust patination as well as natural wear on the unglazed foot ring. 7 3/4" Tall 9 1/2" Wide
