Description: Offering an antique breasted Warranted Superior crosscut logging saw with an empty Keystone medallion. The handle allows it to be used as a one-man or two-man saw. Features: Length: 48" overall, 42-1/2" x 6" blade, 4-1/2" handle Rivets: 3 For a saw of this age, it is in great condition. The blade is straight with minor rusting, but is otherwise in great shape. Please refer to the pictures to assess its state for yourself. This would be an excellent restoration project. While Warranted Superior saws are more difficult to date than Disston saws, research online suggests this saw dates to 1911. See the last picture for more info. These findings are based on my research, but I encourage you to conduct your own to verify. If I have any details wrong, please let me know, as I strive to accurately represent what I am selling. I have several other large crosscut logging saws and numerous antique hand saws available in my store, if interested. Fast shipping is available. Thanks for looking! Info on breasted saws: The teeth on many handsaws are set in a slightly convex arc instead of a flat plane, potentially to reduce friction as the teeth move through the wood. Some saws lack this breasting, and in some cases, it was removed during the refiling process. The breasting effect is quite noticeable on one- or two-man crosscut saws for felling trees. On hand saws, it is subtler, with the blade being wider by about the height of a saw tooth in the center. Backsaws were never breasted.
