He competed in Amsterdam in 1928. In 1932 he won the Gold Medal at the Olympic Games, and at that time he was spotted by Paramount Pictures. They asked him to give up his law goal and join Paramount to play Tarzan. After nine years with Paramount — one co-starring with W C Fields — he joined Universal, where he starred as Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers in serials, and in a number of full-length movies. In 1951 he came East to begin a suacessful TV career including starring as the famed Captain Galant in The Foreign Legion.He has appeared in numerous movies, his latest-for release in fall 1976 — a full-length western called Come Back Trail.Buster Crabbe lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife of 40 years, Virginio.
