Description: Blades have been a staple of warfare since the dawn of time and the invention of firearms didn’t initially change that. Bayonets, blades that can be attached to the barrels of firearms have been in use since the late 16th or early 17th century (depending on the source). While bayonets are infrequently used in modern warfare, many modern firearms still possess bayonet lugs and many modern militaries still train soldiers in their use, mostly for controlling prisoners and last-ditch defenses. For sale here is a British Pattern 1907 Bayonet. The blade has some discoloration and scratches on it. Some of the proof marks are hard to make out but they indicate that this bayonet was produced by Wilkinson Sword Co. and IT APPEARS AS THOUGH this one was manufactured in December of 1913. The wooden grip is very worn. The scabbard is in decent shape and is believed to be the original scabbard. It should be noted that the scabbard brass fittings were painted green at one point which was common practice for British sailors and Marines in an attempt to protect the scabbard from sea water corrosion. Actual weight is 1.5 lbs.The perfect buy for lovers of bayonets and all things British!NOTE: Please look at ALL PICTURES before purchasing.
