The mini wand is crated from rowan and depicts Brigid as she is traditionally seen in Ireland. In green with flaming red hair. She holds fire in her hand, and the sun is above her. Brigids cross is in front of her. Rowan is a tree of fire and is one of Brigids sacred trees. It repreesents the quickening of the earth from Imbolc onwards to Spring. Brigid is the Celtic goddess of fire (the forge and the hearth), poetry, healing, childbirth, and unity. Additionally, she is a goddess of spinning and weaving, and prepares the never-ending fabric of life and guides the passage of the Sun through the constellations and the seasonal cycles. At Imbolc Brigid takes over from the Cailleach, the Goddess of Winter, and guides us towards spring and the sun. She is known by many names, Bridget, Bride, Bridie and Brighde, including that of Saint Brigid who is, perhaps, the most powerful religious figure in Irish history. She is a triple Goddess, so we honour her in all her aspects. Late winter/early spring is the time for communing with Brigid, and tending the lighting of her sacred flame. The beads used here are split into 3 sets of 9, as chants are usually spoken in multiples of 3. They are interspersed with copper beads and the nines are seperated by two beautiful decorated copper beads. Counting beads are for chanting spellwork or intent, or petitioning your god or goddess. These are a permanent take on beads i use in ritual which are usually burnt as part of the ritual, or buried. These pieces can be used multiple times. The accompanying beads are carnelian which is a stone of fire and vitality, green moss agate connects to the natural rhythms of the earth and aids in grounding, white chalcedony aids in the harmony of stillness, dreamlike it is a promise of things to come. Finally the beads are completed with a flame charm.
