Description: On October 30, 1979, one day later than originally scheduled, Braniff extended its Los Angeles to Seoul Boeing 747 service to Singapore. Both Los Angeles offices postmarked covers on October 28 in anticipation of service beginning on the next day. These covers were properly dispatched and were backstamped October 31 upon arrival at Singapore. This cover was carried on the October 30, 1979 inaugural Braniff International flight from Los Angeles, California to Singapore (where it was backstamped) and is listed in The American Air Mail Catalogue as BN-F72.Braniff ceased air carrier operations in May 1982 because of high fuel prices, credit card interest rates and extreme competition from the large trunk carriers and the new airline startups created by the Airline Deregulation Act of December 1978.Two later airlines used the Braniff name: the Hyatt Hotels-backed Braniff, Inc. in 1983–1989, and Braniff International Airlines, Inc. in 1991–1992.
