Semi-transparent and with a hint of texture to the paint. The original color has long been banned and all colors labeled I. Black now are more properly known as "Bone Black." The modern version of this color is made from charred animal bones, but no longer elephant bone. My imitation color is bone black + some yellow ochre to accentuate the warmth of the original I.
