Description: Pictured is an uncommon & infrequently seen blue & white spongeware stoneware salt & pepper shaker offered for sale. The double-chambered shaker allows one to use one or the other side at one time. It measures but 2 5/8" in height & dates from 1895 - 1920 or slightly earlier. It's in excellent condition with no nicks, damage or repairs. As often seen, the metal caps are slightly dented. A special, novel shaped spongeware item for your "smalls" collection..... Note: This is truly a "blue & white" example which is seldom seen. More frequently found are either blue on blue sponged examples or shakers which incorporate an additional color such as red, burgandy or brown.
