During the last ten years of her life, jazz producer Norman Granz teamed her up with some of the best jazz figures of that era and made many historic recordings. The Unforgettable Lady Day, released in 1959 just after the singers death, compiles some of her best sides from that period, featuring such stars as Ben Webster, Harry Sweets Edison, Charlie Shavers, Paul Quinichette, Barney Kessel, Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, Jimmy Rowles,and Oscar Peterson, among many others. The twenty-three performances in this collection cover almost a full decade from around 1949 to 1957.
