The landscapes he creates have a poetic and airy feel. Born on August 18, 1928 in Belfort, France, he was taught about nature from a young age by his grandfather, who also cultivated Gantner's drawing ability. He went on to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris before moving back to Belfort to pursue his career. Today, Gantner's work can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He lives and works in Belfort, France.
