Description: This vintage ( early 1960s) West German baby boy is a rare marked Hummel Goebel vinyl doll. Even if one is not familiar with these dolls, the connection with the beloved Hummel figurines is immediately apparent. They have the same lifelike, childish appeal as the figures, only in vinyl. It is as if the of whimsical charm of the porcelain figurines has been transferred to a soft, huggable baby doll. This particular little guy has bright golden blond hair with the trademark Hummel front cowlick and intense blue inset plastic eyes. ( This in itself is quite unusual, as the brown-eyed dolls are far more common ). The doll’s facial features are handpainted. It is fully jointed and can stand and sit. The mark on its nape says: "V 104 M. J. Hummel © W. GOEBEL". The back shows an incised “ V" with a bumble bee icon. (Bumblebee is “ Hummel”in German, and this is the Hummel mark as seen on the porcelain figurines. The little Hummel boy ( although he is not anatomically correct, I always see this blue-clad doll as a boy ) is in excellent vintage condition, which is remarkable considering its age: it was made in the early 1960s! I find no fading, staining, color loss, or stiffness. He us fresh and odor-free. The doll comes with his original powder blue knit footed leggings and white and blue knitted bonnet. I have added a vintage shirt to complete the ensemble for the photos. Doll will be sent with original tights and bonnet.
