Everyone I talked to who flew the Thunderbolt said that they loved it. What a true American Classic! Florene joined the Women Volunteer Pilots and served with Jackie Cockran. They both traveled to England where they worked with the women in the RAF who were very active...they brought their knowledge home and started the official..."WASP." Florene trained American airmen in the classroom all the way to actual lying lesions. She was one of the hardest working of the bunch. She and Jackie Cockran gained much information when they went to England and studied how the RAF had incorporated women into their ranks. They came back and started the WASP program which trained tens of thousands of American Men to fly and flight all over the world. After the war Florene moved to Texas and was a leading teacher in the University system. When she passed away, I cried, she was a wonderful woman. HANG some History on your Walls! Florene Miller would have been an Ace if she had been given the chance...to shoot down Germans. She did volunteer for active duty and was turned down. TOP THAT!
