Description: A finely hammered sterling silver footed cake plate/shallow bowl with pierced tab handles made by Frederick J.R. Gyllenberg, a famous Arts and Crafts silversmith from Boston. Produced in the 1920s, it has elegant classic form combined with arts and crafts techniques including hand hammering and rolled edges. The silver is thick. It sits on a round ringed foot. The bottom is stamped FJRG Sterling and 292. The plate measures 13" across its handles, 8 3/8" across the bowl, and 1 1/4" high. It weighs a substantial 415 grams, or 13.34 troy ounces. There are some very light scratches on the inside bottom.
