They are heat treated to a tensile strength rating of 200,000 psi and the threads are rolled not cut. This process has been proven to make them five times stronger than OEM rod bolts. Connecting rod bolts just may be the most important fasteners in your entire engine. Just one broken bolt could lead to such catastrophic engine failure that it would cost you thousands of dollars to repair. The alternating tension and compression on the connecting rod as the crankshaft rotates puts tremendous strain on the bolts.
