First Grand Prix de Rome in 1873, chief architect of historical monuments, professor at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, he was for twenty-four years - from 1888 to 1912 - the chief architect of the Versailles estate and of the Trianons. In 1900, Marcel Lambert opened a course in stereotomy and drawing plans at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. That same year, he received the Grand Prize at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He was finally appointed chief architect of historical monuments in 1907.
