Description: ITEM: Apparel Arts hardcover "magazine," Vol. XII, No. II-A, from December 1941. This issue is the "Fabrics and Fashions Edition" and was "previewing authentic Esquire fashions." Magazine measures 10.75" wide and 14" tall and has 84 pages. This issue features articles about formal wear, a new paddock jacket, sport clothes, formal accessories, fashions in fabrics, display suggestions, beachwear, dressing for outdoor activites (golf, etc.), and more (please see the numerous photos for a picture of the full table of contents as well as many spreads from the issue). One really special thing about this issue is that it includes numerous fabric samples for the section titled "Fashions in Fabrics." There are also many ads for fashion houses and retailers of the time, such as Dobbs hats, Rau fasteners, etc. Oh, and it even comes with an original subscription card tipped in (see close-up photo). See the numerous photos for the full issue table of contents. Magazine will be sent archivally bagged! Please scroll down for a detailed statement of condition. Any and all flaws visible in the numerous photos that accompany this auction. See my other listings for numerous other similar zines, posters, LPs, and more, and please ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. CONDITION: Magazine is in very good condition. The spine is tight and untorn. All pages are accounted for. All fabric samples are present. There are, however, some flaws: A light rectangle of what appears to be old adhesive (owner's label?) in the lower left corner of the front cover. Small indentation to top and bottom of front cover. Minor waviness to pages and a slight musty smell, as if it were perhaps stored in a basement at one time (NO WATER DAMAGE, however). Interior shows some yellowing commensurate with age. Though fabric samples are all intact, a couple of the rectangles have folded in half, and they will not lie flat (see close-up photos). Fabric samples, after having sat pressed in this book for more than 80 years, have caused some rectangular indentations on surrounding pages. Light damage to pg. 1 where the cover may have stuck slightly and pulled some color away (see photos 8 and 9). Pages 10 and 11 also seem to have stuck together at one point in a small area; it only pulled some color off pg. 11 but did rip pg. 10 (about a 4" piece on the "HOLD THAT LINE" portion of the Evans Leathers ad—see photos 12 and 13). Page 84 seems to have slightly stuck to the inside back cover as well and resulted in some light damage (see photo 24). Please see the numerous close-up photos that accompany this listing. Any and all flaws are visible in the numerous photos.
