Description: The attitude control (steering, also called RCS) engines that made travel to the Moon possible! This is a 1/4 scale model of an Apollo "Quad Mount" RCS engine assembly, 4 of which were mounted on the Apollo Service Module. Using 4 R-4D RCS thrusters per mount, they allowed 6-axis control (rotation and translation) of the spacecraft. Each engine had a thrust of around 100 pounds, and the design is still in use today. This model captures the off-centered side thrusters - they wouldn't have fit if they had been centered - and the slight upward tilt of the engines as well. Consists of 5 parts custom 3D printed in silver and gray, it looks really good even without any paint, but you can paint and detail it if you wish. Also comes with the self-adhesive decal shown (not die-cut, it will need to be cut out of the sheet). Just insert the engines into the mount; may or may not need glue. The assembly is about 9 1/2" tall X 7 1/2" wide and has a hanger on the back so you can hang it on the wall! The last photo shows the real thing mounted on the Service Module. Sorry, the rest of the spacecraft is not included! Since this is 3D printed, it will show visible layer lines; the lines on the engine bells actually seem to add to the effect! They make them look like spun aluminum.
