Description: This is a mid 19th century Copeland and Garrett (1830s-40s) shallow bowl in the “Richmond Hill” medium brown transfer pattern measuring approximately 8 7/8” in diameter. The piece features an idyllic English country scene inside an elaborate center cartouche almost filling the recessed portion of the dish. The outer border is decorated with a densely organized floral pattern faintly but uniformly highlighted (this particular border pattern appears without the highlight on pieces produced during the aesthetic movement period some 40 years later, vis a vis “Cairo”). Both the overall design and transfer application are well executed. The pottery blank bears a gently scalloped edge. No discernible chips or cracks. Very light crazing and very good condition for its age. Domestic Priority Mail shipping is $ 9.50. Please contact for international shipping cost.
