Description: I believe this to be a Sumter model 14 magneto. Please research and study the pictures to be sure this is the correct magneto for you before purchasing. This magneto will produce a nice hot appearing spark by giving the armature a quick spin by hand and scratching the lead out wire against my bench. I believe the inner portion of the base has been “modified” with a heavy brass plate to insure a good mounting base. It looks like someone has done a fine job. The outer pot metal base has a couple cracks but I don’t see them being an issue. The 2 mounting holes measure 2” apart on centers. This item is old and used! It is sold as is! Sadly I cannot prove that this magneto will run or start a engine but judging by the spark it produces on my bench is certainly has the the capability of possibly little to none work before being ready to be put to use!!
