Description: What makes this hand hooked rug stand out is the checker board design incorporated in the motif. It could have been hooked from a pattern or the maker was innovative. It appears scraps of different cotton fabrics were used in the rug. The rug was originally more colorful (as shown in the backside photo) but because of its age there has been some slight fading. Also there is slight fraying on some of the edges. It would look great as a table runner in any home or as a piece of history made by our industrious ancestors.
