Description: This listing is for an antique jute (coated canvas) Hat Box Trunk that features high quality brass hardware & rivets as well as a steel reinforced trunk lip along with genuine leather trim & handle. Despite being made between the late 1800s & early 1900s, this trunk is in very good vintage condition...very sturdy & strong. This hat box trunk was manufactured by Laprosta, of Dresden, Germany. It has two authentic brass plates on bot sides of the trunk lid which bear the company's distinctive trademark logo of a pyramid with an embossed stork carrying a trunk. It has a lined antique white "satin striped" cotton fabric interior, however, consistent with its age and previous use. It has two large "century old" stains in the bottom corners. The exterior is heavily coated canvas (jute) that's covered with leather trim and high-quality heavy brass hardware and rivets as well as something that are not usually seen on other hat box trunks of this period. This hat box trunk is an unusual shape because of its oversized measurements (23.5" L x 15.5" W x 14.5" H) which makes it a perfect candidate to be repurposed as a chic & exotic coffee table capable of supporting a tray full of drinks & hors d'oeuvres.
