Description: Antique Jean Pouyat, Limoges France, Artist-Signed, Hand-Painted, Shallow Bowl, Signed BC Polhemus, Heavy Gold Rim, Strawberries Eagle Bay Heirlooms is pleased to offer this beautiful antique shallow porcelain bowl/plate. The rim is exquisitely trimmed in a heavy gold gilding with embossed designs on an irregularly scalloped rim. The Artist signature can clearly be seen next to the muted strawberries which adorn this lovely dish in muted pastel tones of peach and green with white flowers. The Signature is B.C. Polhemus. This stunning display piece is stamped on the rear J.P. L.( for Jean Pouyat Limoges), FRANCE which dates this to the turn of the century. 1890-1899. The rear of the bowl is white in the center with the outer band being an ecru or beige color. Size: 9-5/8" Diameter x 1-5/8" Height Condition: Excellent Antique condition. Net Wt. 1 lb. 1 oz. SOME HISTORY: The use of "J.P./L. France" factory mark indicates that the piece was made in 1890-1902. In 1911 Pouyat factory merged with Guerin et Cie, creating "Anciens Etablissements J. Pouyat, Willian Guerin, et Cie", and in 1920 the company was taken over by Bawo & Dotter Ltd, creating Guerin, Pouyat, Elite Ltd. Unfortunately, when the factory was closed in 1932, the archives and thousands of models were destroyed.
